How to Bake Cream Rolls Shells

Cream rolls are universal. The oversized flaky shell, buttery cream filling, and sugar-dusted top, a taste familiar to many. As a child I remember these extremely over sized cream rolls, my mom would buy from the bakery that was close to our house. I clearly recall asking my mom each time if I could have two, and her answer was always, “No”. So disappointing!   As a child I never understood?… But as a mother I know now why! Almond Cookies

Almond cookies

Almond cookies are one of those things that instantly takes me back to a snowy white Christmas free of any worries; warm and cozy. One of our good neighbours/friends who was German made the best almond cookies ever.  She always gave us a big box of them.  I remember I would often eat the entire box by myself. Afghani Brittles

Afghani Brittles

Brittles takes me back to my childhood.  I remember begging my mom to buy me some every time we went shopping, especially around Eid time.

Even though I was quite young when we left Afghanistan, I still have many fond memories of Eid. I remember Eid being loud! It had a presence. You could feel it, smell it, taste it, and even touch it if you wanted to.  Continue reading “Afghani Brittles”
